How do I know the Answer?
I personally have a buffing machine and have buffed many cds/dvds in the past few years.
Does this method work? That is, are the scratches removed?
Yes, IF properly done, we can remove the scratches but this buffing makes the CD/DVD weaker. CD/DVD life span decreases…
Basically, Buffing is NOT a safe thing to do. Your cd/dvd can be damaged permanently. If you do this buffing process carefully then it can remove most of the scratches but be warned that a slight mistake can damaged the cd/dvd completely.
My suggestions will be to ONLY buff a CD or DVD if there are lot of scratches on it and if it can’t be read by your cd-rom or via other devices.
In such cases, this CD or DVD is already of No use: so taking the Buffing Risk is understandable.
