d:/ is not accessible, The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable: Partition Software

Question: I used a partition software on my d:/ [or any other] drive and now this drive is not working. It shows the following error: d:/ is not accessible, The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable. My computer now does not show the line below the drive that tells its capacity.

A Simple Solution: open “My Computer”> Right click on the drive> Choose properties> Choose security

Now click on Advanced. Here you will see one entry that will say “Deny” under “type”.

Click on “Change Permissions”

Click on the entry that says deny and then click on “Remove”

Open my computer and check your drive.

I tried to change partition size for my D drive using some software. For some reason I stopped the software from processing my request. This made my drive inaccessible. I tried to find a solution online where people suggested formatting the drive. I could not do that because I needed the data in this drive. Some suggested using software to retrieve data.

Instead of doing what these online solutions suggested, I tried to find a simple solution myself. The above mentioned solution worked for me and I got all my data back.
