Red Faction Demolition Master: Destroy the Smokestack

Some of the Demolition Master mini games/missions [in Red Faction: PC Game] are hard to complete/understand. Some of them are quite confusing and sometime we need to properly understand what we have to do to complete the mission.

One of such Demolition Master mission is “Destroy the Smokestack”. This mission is found in Oasis. We have to bring down a Smokestack: a long tower that looks much like a chimney.

We have 3 rounds and one explosive cylinder and 40 seconds. In order to complete as a PRO, you have to complete the mission in just 10 seconds. The message you see for this mission is “Three Rounds, what are you saving them for“.

At first, I was not even able to complete the mission as with the given items, the tower was not coming down at all. I was only able to make the building structure unstable and it never came down. Anyway, after trying and trying again, here is the way to complete the mission in just under 10 seconds time period and qualify to be a PRO.

As soon as the mission begins, grab the cylinder and press sprint key to run. The important thing to note here is that we need to run. Even if you have grabbed an item, you can still Run.

Now where exactly do we have to run?

Run towards the hill which is behind the tower. Note that you need to climb the highest hill point. Reach the top of the hill with the cylinder in your hand. Now as soon as you reach the hill, throw the cylinder at the middle of the tower. Note that at the middle of this Smokestack, you will see a balcony type area where you can throw this cylinder.

You may have to try this for few times to correctly throw the cylinder at the desired place. Once the cylinder is thrown in this balcony and if the cylinder stays there and does not fall down: immediately fire a round at the cylinder.

This will bring down the smokestack within 10 seconds.
