For some reasons, I decided to get a new mouse which should be accurate while working on my PC.
So I got A4Tech’s X7 series mouse [X-718]. I then decided to change the mouse polling rate as I saw that many gamers online who suggest to do this to improve the accuracy of their mouse while playing games.
So I started to search for how to change polling rate on the internet. I found few very useful tools like: Mouse Rate Switcher, Mouse Rate Checker etc.
The first tool can change the polling rate to 250Hz or 500Hz or 1000Hz. And the second one is used to see the polling rate that you currently have.
I tried to change the polling rate via this simple tool, but it failed. I then searched and found many other tools to do the same job. But all of them failed to change the polling rate for my X-718 A4tech mouse.
I even tried to change the polling rate manually but it didn’t work. I then tried another mouse with my PC and I was surprised to see its polling rate changed without any problems.
I then attached X-718 to my brothers PC who has 500Hz polling rate, but X-718 showed 125-127 Hz polling rate.
I then realized that we cannot change the polling rate for A4Tech X-718.
Reason ? I have no idea about it.
But even without changing the polling rate, this mouse works fine.
I have found a way to change refresh rate in my Microsoft Comfort Mouse 3000 which I thought was locked. Before Windows start I press F8 and select disable driver signature or something. Then just use hidusbf to change rate to what you like. After that you must boot for it to take effect. After you do this you always have to press F8 and select disable driver signature if you want to use more than 125hz.
After you have set rate with usbhidf and boot regularly to Windows your mouse won’t work. Just uninstall it from device manager and reattach and it will work again 125hz.
Hope this works for you too. My OS is Windows 7 x64.
I have the OCZ Equalizer which is a rebadged X-750F and it is also locked at 125Hz. Luckily I already knew of this problem so I’m not surprised but it is false advertising that they state the polling rate as 1ms on the box. Still a good feeling mouse though.
I have A4tech X-750BF too. And also have discribed problem, I tried “overclock” it on different computers with different OS(XP and Vista).
I apllied to a4tech’s support twice, but no replies given.
P.S. On a4tech site we can found declared “full speed USB” for this model(1000Hz refresh rate), but nobody knows how it use
P.S.S. sorry for my English, I’m from Ukraine…
i’ve tried all that with A4tech’s X-750BF and i couldnt change it also. i wonder why, the BOX says 1ms response time. but polling rate only shows 125. I think all A4tech’s mice work at 125hz. they are just over stating on their packaging.
