Wateen Wireless Vs PTCL Broad Band
Note: All the below given information is only my personal opinion based on my personal experience with both Wateen and PTCL broad Band connections. Other people may have different opinion/experience with these services.
Few years back, I decided to work at home and earn money at freelance sites via doing online jobs. At that time, I only had a 4KB or less per second connection.
This was the time when I had some worse internet experience. I tried many internet providers but they all had the same slow speeds. In countries like USA, people were moving on to 4+ MB per second connections and I could only get a 4KB/sec connection.
Anyway, I had no choice and things on the internet worked slowly. Then there was a time when I had to do freelancing plus I had to manage my websites too. The slow internet connection made things worse for me and was pushing me back.
I had to work for 18 or so hours every day: most of the time during my work, it was the waiting for the internet connection to open the required page.
In the month of [I think] January 2008, Wateen started its services. I was glad to see a fast internet provider in the town. I was one of the few customers who booked their orders on the very first day of Wateen’s internet service launch : )
People said that, Wateen is expensive and we need to pay a security fee plus some other fee too [installation charges], but I did not care about any of those things as I was desperate to get a better internet connection.
After using Wateen for about 1.5 years, I finally decided to get a PTCL broad band internet connection.
The reason why I decided to get PTCL was that: I have seen my brother use PTCL broad band: he got PTCL broad band in the month of January, 2009, and I had not seen him complaining about his internet connection.
Here are advantages and disadvantages I experienced while using both these internet services.
Wateen:
Advantages:
Wateen uses a wireless device for all internet activity at the users end. This means that no phone line is needed to get connected to internet.
As the device is portable, it can therefore be used with laptops quite easily.
Wateen limits the amount of data that users can download. The current package that allows the most download is 15GB limit [Update: Wateen now supports a Conditionally Unlimited Download limit].
This sounds like a strategy to deliver quality service to the customers as if unlimited download is allowed, then there is a possibility of overall internet speed to decrease for all users.
For users who are upgrading from a dial up internet connection [delivering speeds like: 4KB/Sec], Wateen Wireless connection will have quite few attractions like: no dial up modem anymore, no line rent for a dedicated phone line that one may need for a internet connection, no charges for the dial up calls that are needed to be connected to the internet, receive fast speed instead of snail like speed and etc.
There are times when the internet via Wateen will be working just as described. Opening websites will take just a click and a second wait.
Disadvantage:
NOTE: Please read the Comment Number Four after you finish reading the main article. In comment number 4, I have mentioned another problem I had with Wateen’s Wireless Internet Connection. I came to remember this problem after I saw the comment by Taha Usmani.
You may experience signal problems. Signals for Wateen device are very important and having less signals means, slower internet speed.
When I first got the Wateen device, only one signal out of five were used to show up in my device. Sometimes, all signals were gone and I was left with no internet service.
At first, I thought may be something was wrong at Wateen’s signal tower but this problem started to occur very often.
After I contacted Wateen franchise, I found that Wateen service was working just fine near the signal tower and my problem was related to the low signals in my area.
It took months for Wateen support to realize the fact that the low signals in my area was causing problems. Where I already had pointed out this possibility many times to Wateen support but they always said that low signals have nothing to do with slow internet service.
Anyway, as there were many Wateen customers in my area with low signals, I guess this made Wateen to install a signal tower in my area.
After that, signals got full and things seemed to work out quite well. But unfortunately, the good times did not lasted for long and different problems started to show up again.
The new signal tower started to have problems due to which we customers, were left with no internet service, even for 3 straight days. All we could do was to sit in front of the Wateen device and look at its signal searching mode and hope that the searching mode will end.
Every month, I have experienced down times with my internet service provider [Wateen] and because of which, I was unable to update my websites and was unable to work at freelance sites.
This down time was for 1, 2 and even for 3 straight days.
Many people in my city have complained about signal problems in their home or office. The signal issue and down time are the biggest disadvantage of having Wateen’s wireless internet connection.
One big disadvantage of Wateen is the download limitation. There is no freedom to how much internet you can use and 10 GB or 15 GB seems to be very tight limits.
I easily reach and many times, crossed this limit.
The money that Wateen charges for extra usage is very high. The additional data downloaded is charged as: Rs.50 per 100MB extra usage.

Wateen’s site where we can check our usage: most of the time, I had problem with these stats. I got over 10GB limit, many times because I could not see how much internet I have used.
The biggest reason why I quit using Wateen:
I had a very serious issue with Wateen. I have experienced slow browsing most of the time. Websites used to stuck while they were opening. On contacting Wateen’s support, they told me to delete all cookies and other stuff like that.
I have done what they have told me multiple times but the problem remained unsolved. In the end, the support person suggested that there must be something wrong with my PC or with the sites I am opening.
This was not the case as on the same PC and for the same websites, Wateen use to work perfectly fine for few days: there were like few sessions of successful browsing with Wateen for few days and then I experienced the browsing problem again.
Also, while I had the browsing problem, Wateen device used to go in searching mode many times. Signal used to drop and come back many times. Signal strength used to decrease too.
There could be a possibility that I had some problem with Wateen wireless device but that was also not the case as on experiencing the browsing [also the signal problem], I at once visited Wateen franchise and checked the device there.
Wateen franchise is in an area that has another signal tower. There, my device worked like a charm with no signal or browsing problems.
But nobody listen to requests seriously and I was left with this annoying browsing problem for not months but years.
PTCL Broad Band:
Disadvantages:
A possible disadvantage of PTCL broad band can be phone line requirement and the extra charges. But this is not always the case as the new PTCL broad band device can be used without engaging the phone line.
That is: when PTCL broad band internet is being used, the phone set can also be used at the same time.
There are two PTCL broad band internet connections in my home. One is used by my brother and I use the other one. The one that my brother use is attach to the primary phone line and I have a separate dedicated phone line for my PTCL connection.
Phone set is only used in primary phone line.
When PTCL Broad Band device is active, we experience some problems with the phone set. We cannot clearly hear things on the phone. There is some loud noise in the phone set and it is caused by PTCL broadband device.
We have to unplug the phone line from PTCL device in order to make phone calls. PTCL support person told few tips to tackle the situation. The tip was related to making changes in the phone line connections to PTCL device and the phone set.
I have not yet made the changes. May be this problem can be solved completely or at least it can be solved to some extent.
Update: I hooked by a telephone set on the Phone Connection that I am using for PTCL Broad Band Internet. The phone is working just fine. I hear no noise of any kind. Both the telephone and the internet connection are working at the same time and I see no problem what so ever.
To solve the problem of noise in the Main/Primary Phone Line: PTCL support personal told me to first connect the phone line to your primary Telephone Set. At the moment, the phone line is first connected to the PTCL Internet Device and is then connected to the primary Telephone Set. I will make the required changes and I am sure that this noise problem will completely be solved.
Sometimes, I see slow internet speed in PTCL broadband. This happens very rarely and I am not sure if this is some problem with my system or this has something to do with PTCL.
Update: I saw some slow internet speed [4-5 times for few minutes] with PTCL Broad Band in the start: but now for the past many days, the internet is working just fine. There was just one time when PTCL Internet was not working at all. It was because of some problem at their server and it was corrected after few hours.
I have just started to use PTCL broadband for like 3 or so days and I have not seen any major issue with the internet usage.
Advantages:
In PTCL broadband, unlimited download is allowed.
It is cheaper than Wateen. Wateen’s 512 KB/sec package cost something like Rs.1350/month where PTCL’s 1 MB/sec package costs Rs.1199/month [Note: Wateen charges some installation fee plus some security fee for their device [approximately RS. 6000]: on the other hand, PTCL installation and the device, both are FREE].
If we install a new line for PTCL broadband, it is still much cheaper than Wateen. The line rent and package cost is less than what Wateen’s minimum package costs.
Conclusion:
If you are comparing Wateen and PTCL internet services than for me, PTCL wins by big lead. I am quite disappointed to not get PTCL broadband internet connection when this service started in my city few months back.

Update: Wateen has made some major changes in their packages. The 15GB package has been converted into an unlimited download package. Prices of some packages are also changed. You can see the updated prices on the page which is mentioned in the 26th comment.
There is one important thing to tell about Wateen’s New Unlimited Download Package: I came to know about these new changes via an email that I got from Wateen. In that email, it was mentioned that Wateen will only allow a fair usage of their unlimited download package.
Meaning that: there is still a limit to how much a person can download via this unlimited package. Wateen mentioned that: fair usage policy applies to this package.
What kind of usage is fair? And what kind of usage can be called unfair or an abuse of this policy? I have no idea about it. I have seen people using PTCL Broadband day and night: downloading lot of stuff all the time.
I have not seen any kind of unfair use problem with PTCL internet connection. Wateen’s 1MB/sec package is still expensive than PTCL 1MB/sec package. And the unlimited download is only virtually unlimited. Only fair usage of downloading is allowed with this package. I will still say that PTCL broadband packages are much better than the new Wateen Wireless Broadband packages.

I have ptcl 1mb, for rs850 student package unlimited. I am sick and tired of their bu*l***t customer service. Our phone line goes dead at least once a month and it doesn’t get repaired for 3 or 4 days. Once it was for almost 10 days and I had to phone them everyday! The only good thing about a ptcl is its broadband, but they are getting low at CUSTOMER SERVICES.

I am using PTCL broadband wireless. While using Skype i can not hear voice from the other end, where as if is used LAN (wire) i can hear sound. What could be the problem.

I m using PTCL BB(Broadband) for 1 year and half.Download speed of 1 Mbps is 95 to 110 KB/s.PTCL Complaint response is good.No problem yet with PTCL BB service.i am satisfied with PTCL(simply loving it as i am an avid gamer ,Some CS Servers(Brain net ISP servers) give me latency rate of 35-50 ms which is good in Abbottabad.
On the other hand what i have heard from friends and colleagues, wateen has by default some defects 1st is weather conditions problem(in cloudy r rainy condition it simply S***) and 2nd is Signal strength is low in specially hilly areas or distant areas coz it effects a lot downloading speed .If u want good signal strength u should be in range of some (1 to 1.5) Mile from the tower.(i inquired this range from a wateen customer service employee)
Note: As wateen is using Warid towers so due to load of cellular services , sometime with good signal strength you may get slow downloading speed.

I have the wateen 512 connection. Since the last fortnight my download speed has been well under 1k, which makes it unpractical to work with. Many complaints have not yielded satisfactory results. My son has been using the ptcl 3gb EVO service, when it works it works, but in case of a service requirement, response is unsatisfactory.
I have been advised to try Wi-tribe as users in Pakistan’s largest IT company based in their Islamabad office are happy.

I switched from Wateen to PTCL Broadband about 14 months ago due to the 105 days of extremely poor service Wateen had been providing me.
I got no red-ress to my complaints which were also endorsed to the PTA.
The only thing Wateen is good at is timely reminders on card recharge dates. I am still on their mailing list although I stopped using their service over one and a quarter year ago.
They are not removing their device from my premises and giving back my security lying with them.
So prospective customers, beware of Wateen. They do not have the necessary business acu-men, and are neither technically nor morally sound.

I am using PTCL broadband from almost 6-7 months, speed is good but i am facing the problem of disconnection…. sometimes it disconnects even by 4-5 mins intervals. once in an hour disconnection ratio is normal problem with it. i have made so many complaints on 1218 but no body came to rectify the problem. Very true, a 512Kbps connection will give a speed around 60Kbps if your phone line has no noise. For most of the people, this speed will be less than 60Kbps with a 512Kbps connection.

i am using broadband for last four years and have used 256, 512 and 1 Mbps connections. 512 kbps never gets above 65kbps that is the upper limit! regardless of the company and quality and type of the connection it wont get above 65kbps. normal download speed for a home connection of 512 kbps is 45 to 55 KB/s.

I will agree.
Wateen have a very clear policy. They call it the “Fair Usage Policy”. Wateen will only allow a fair amount of downloading. If wateen detects massive downloads for a connection, they can block it as per policy rule.
On the other hand, I am pretty much sure that PTCL will also have such policy. PTCL download speed vary and someone said that: all major ISP shares one connection [at their end] among multiple users. So, each connection is divided. I am not sure how true this is and I do not know the exact details, but one thing is for sure: one cannot regularly get good download speeds with any ISP. And my personal experience with Wateen was not good compared to what I have experienced so far with PTCL broadband.

If any company will stop investing in it’s network , repairing , upgradtions, they will no where in scene. Unfortunately Wateen was started with so much media hype and in the end they failed to deliver, their own sales person didn’t know what actually wateen are offering. Wateen did every big sin people can’t forgive : Like they made users to buy CPES(Modems) , They charge for telephony even though users wanted a flat internet connection with no telephony.
PTCL has it’s own issues , the big issue , You can’t get rid of the infrastructure. This is ‘baba-e-adam’s infrastructure, rusty copper wires carrying broadband signals
Anyways for me Wateen and PTCL Both are big time failure and their performance is good or bad area wise, So As a customer point of view I dont want to praise any of network which is good or bad area wise, Network should be same if they commit it that its in ‘coverage area’ .
One thing is good in Qubee, that they are not offering unlimited package till yet. They know runing a competition campaign can choke their network.

yeh dear u r right actually wateen device has alot of signals problem, but as far as ptcl concerned the only problem i m facing in karachi with my connection is that the wires break at the polls which causes my fone to be dead and make me to rush to the ptcl office.
the latest problem which i m facing is that i had a regular downloading speed of more than 50kb/s (which often crosses 200kb/s in night after 1 am)now for the past two weeks the speed has went down to merely 10 kb/s. i have complained alot to 1218 but they are not showing any serious response well i hope they will tackle the problem soon.

With Wateen internet connection, we have to get their telephony service too. I have used their telephony service but was not quite happy about it.
At first, I thought may be we should disconnect our PTCL phone line as now we will get much better telephony service, unfortunately, I was not satisfied by Wateen Telephony [VOIP] service.
Call drop, no dialing at all, noise, tried to call via wateen VOIP for several minutes but call did not dialed, and the same number was dialed and worked perfectly fine when dialed from PTCL phone line and etc: these are some problems that I encountered while using this service. It was not long before I completely stopped using wateen’s phone service after a month or so: Although, I was paying for both the internet and phone [Telephony ] as it is must to include Telephony in your package.

regarding your telephone noise problem although u solved it like work around but to get rid of noise you need a dsl filter which will filter the modem tone and voice calls. cost will be around 200/PKR.

Its a good comparison of two ISP I must say. Well, I am a wateen user, and has been ever since they launched their service in my city, i.e Rawalpindi. Don’t know much about PTCL (although I have heard praises about them), but I will reveal some truths about Wateen. Well to be honest, initially it was good and I was using 512kbps (was getting DL speed around 55kbps). Then later on after some months, I started having signal problems, and after sometime, even though I still used to have max 3 LEDS, but net speed did not recovered.
Quite recently I switched to wateen 1mb Unlimited package. It was a really good at start, and I was getting around 100kbps DL speed. But since last 15-20 days my net speed drastically reduced (DL speed around 25 kbps). I filed numerous complaints at Wateen’s Helpline, but issue was not resolved. Then I was finally given a shocking revelation by Wateen people. 5 OF THE USERS ARE ASSIGNED TO AN IP POOL. SO WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? IT MEANS THAT IF YOU HAVE SUBSCRIBED FOR 1MB, THEN 5 OF THE 1MB USERS WILL BE SHARING THAT BANDWIDTH. WHAT THE HE** IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN? IT MEANS THAT 1MB SPEED WILL BE SHARED AMONG 5 USERS. SO IF ALL THE 5 USERS ARE AT TO THEIR INTERNET, EACH USER WILL FACE SPEED REDUCTION.
When I tried to argue with the customer care representative that I signed up for 1mb not 256kbps and why the fu** I wasn’t told about it when i signed up for the subscription, he said ISPs around the world do this IP pooling among users. When I told him that this is abs**d, and highly illogical as why someone will be stupid enough to sign up for 1mb bandwidth when they will be provided with a speed of 256kbps bandwidth.
HE TOLD ME THAT IT IS NOT ILLOGICAL AND THAT I SHOULD HAVE READ THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS ON THE SUBSCRIPTION FORM. CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS, I was shocked to hear that. I felt like an idiot who has been fooled big time. Do you guys remember that concept you come around in Hollywood movies where the devil offers you something you really wanted, and gives you that on conditions stated on a form which you are required to sign, and when you get the offer, you realized that you’ve given something much more precious then what you got and that you have been DECEIVED. I just want people to learn from my miserable experience, that always watch your back. If you are planing to sign up with Wateen, don’t do it. If you really want to, then make sure they provide you net speed that you want and require. I hope I prove to be helpful to you in making the right decision. Dudes! WATCH OUT.

ptcl broad band means rubb**h because ptcl does not consider against customer complains. they don’t reply if u complain slow browsing or even you won’t be able to connect the internet. nobody will solve your problems. it means if u want to say ab*se then you can use ptcl other wise there is no charm to use ptcl broad band.

i have a very Bad experience with Wateen using there external device for signals, i connect it to wireless switch, initially for few days it works fine, but within the one month it become a very bad experience,as always searching for signals, very slow browsing etc
The very special case i went to wateen customer center which is in Rawalpindi Sadar, and can u believe that no body was able to attend me, no body was able to guide me to whom i should contact for this, every one says its not his business area, check with other one, when i went to a smart boy looks like the supervisor or I/C of office the excuse he give me was a joke of years, like he says because i bought this device from a another franchise shop so they are not able to solve the problem,
I try to realize him that device is with marked Wateen logo, every thing and this is the device only wateen is providing, and its very clearly marked Wateen on the box his excuse was same,
and this was the peck of frustration for me i left the office. (in Pakistan still people need to be trained in customer service sector) on the first instance they try to make customer ch***** (sorry for this word) but the fact is that, and when you realize him that you are not then they will handle you in customer way, even between that they will try to give you proper information.

I have experience of both services. Choice of right provider totally depends upon usage. If you want heavy downloads then you should go with PTCL because it will cost you 1400 PKR ( 1199 + 200 LR). But if you don’t requie too much downloads then I suggest you to go with Wateen 512Kbps with 5GB limit. It will cost you 800 PKR(599 + 200 LR). If witribe service is available near you then you should go with that because Initaial witribe connection charges are too much low compare to wateen

I am not agree that PTCL is better than Wateen’s Wimax. I first used PTCL dsl in Lahore. My connection was 1 mb and i used to get 30-40 kB/s (t****)download speed where they promised a speed of 80-90 kB/s. When i used to download from RS the speed went to 80 kB/s but a weird thing used to happen. In first second it download and the second it stopped if u download a 100 mb file on 80-90 kB/s speed it would take 25- 30 minutes max to download but in my case it used to take 1 hour or more to download that 100 mb file and i used to pay them around 2000/ per month. lots of complaints but no use.
Then i borrowed wimax from my friend and yes it has signals problem in lhr sammonabad side but still i get 80 kB/s speed and now im in Rawalpindi i get full signals and my Dl speed in 1 mb connection is 120-130 kB/s either from t***** or from RS.

Wateen really rocks as i have seen above many people mentioned about signal problem in wateen, if this is the problem than u guys can try their JUPITER router which is an outdoor device and waterproof. That is the best thing which wateen has launched ever or any other Broadband company.

Unfortunately, PTCL support can sometimes be Very disappointing. I personally have faced lot of similar issues with them.
For example: after dialing the required numbers, I had to wait for 20+ minutes just to talk with some person who fails to solve my problem.
Wateen support is Much Better.
I also live in Abbottabad. We also use PTCL to contact my brother who is living in Isle of Man. Currently, we are not facing any major issue with the internet connection.
Sometimes, the internet device stops to work or the browsing stops to work, this is happening quite often these days.
What problem are you facing with the internet? Your device is showing the internet light?
I suggest you tell your family to contact PTCL support again and ask them contact them everyday until the issue is resolved.

I took a quick look at the packages that Mobilink Infinity offers: these packages look very similar to the ones that Wateen is offering.
Also, I was able to write in detail about PTCL and Wateen because I personally have used both these services. I have not used Mobilink Infinity myself so I will first do some research about their service quality and will then write about Mobilink Infinity too.

In wireless connections, there are few problems. Like signal strength problems, slow speed can be caused because of whether change [I personally experienced that] etc.
PTCL wireless is expensive than PTCL DSL and you will also have to pay upfront money [Rs. 4000 or Rs. 6000] for PTCL wireless broad band subscription.

So my personal suggestion is to go for PTCL Broad Band Internet Connection.
You will get 1MB/sec connection for like Rs. 1199/month where Wateen’s 512KB/sec connection costs around Rs. 1399/month.
PTCL give unlimited download speed where Wateen’s 512 that costs 1399/month: for this package only 15GB download is allowed.
In my experience with both these companies, PTCL provided much better service.
Downtime with Wateen was much more. Secondly I experienced slow browsing with only Wateen wire less internet connection.

Then I guess your problem is not related to restarting of the device. I mentioned this solution as my PTCL broad band device do not turn off as its backed up by a UPS capable of providing 13 hours back up time.
That is why, I restart the device myself whenever I have slow speed problem and this restarting solve this problem for me.

Load shedding do it restart after every 2 or 3 hours. So no need to restart it explicitly. Yes, when i installed it 2 months back its download speed is 110Kb on average. But now its stuck on 10-20 Kb. Unfortunately i dont have the number of the person who installed the device at my home. What you are facing is a very common problem. Most probably, the reason behind your problem is the same as it was for me.
That is: you just need to restart your PTCL broad band device when ever you experience low download speed.
There is a power button behind the device. Push it and wait for few second and then turn it back on. You problem should solve.
If this solution does not work then please tell us: Have you ever seen high download speeds with you PTCL broad band connection?
With 1MB connection, people get close to 120 KB / sec download speeds.
I personally get a 96-106 KB / sec download speed as my telephone line have some noise problem.
In case your speeds are always low, then there is a possibility that your telephone line has lot of noise problem. Solution will be to ask a line man to transfer your telephone to a low noise line.
You can also contact the people who installed the PTCL device in your home. When they came to my house, I asked for their mobile number so that I can contact them in case of any problem.
Please let us know if your problem got solved or not.

WEl wat i hav to say about the comparison in both is that ptcl’s router provides internet to 13 customers at the time and Wateen only provides it to 5 customers !!! if ur a ptcl user and no ones using internet at that time u wil get a good speed and if ur unlucky and each of the customer’s using it u wil get the poorest speed if ur at a v.distance from the router ! this isnt the case with Wateen .. m quite happy with wateeen !

I am using the same speed connection 1 MBPS for PTCL, whereas wateen at 1 MBPS was way behind PTCL. I think wateen is just giving us fake speed indications.

I just found this problem 3 days back when the internet was working slow and I called PTCL support.
They told me to restart the device. Doing which solved the problem.
Now, I restart the device whenever I find the internet to be working slow.
But this slow speed problem happens very rarely. My PC and internet connection are online 24/7. I have a UPS capable of giving 13+ hours power back-up.
So for me, restarting the device once in 24 hours is a ok thing.
Also, after I switch off the device, I turn it on after 3-5 seconds and it works fine.
there is also a big problem with ptcl broadband,
most of the time when d net is too slow or approx not working, you have set off d modem for some time (10 to 20 sec) then it works fine after restart.
BUT its much much better then WATEEN…

While searching for something regarding PTCL device on the internet, I found a site where they mentioned the procedure to get a static IP if we are using zxdsl 831[II] device which we get with PTCL broad band internet connection.
The procedure is to simply log in to the device admin panel. Then there is a option where we can set the range of IPs that our device can use. By default, PTCL set this range in hundreds but if it is changed to allow just one IP then we can get a static IP to use.
I am not sure if PTCL allow this. I suggest you contact PTCL support and ask if its legal to change the range of IPs to get a static IP.
In case PTCL does not allow it, then we cannot change the range of IPS in the Admin Panel.
If PTCL allow this: then inform me and I shall give you the instructions to change the required option.

I also visit the exhibition Connect 2009 at Karachi Expo Center form 5 to 7 May in this exhibition I found PTCL stall but they can’t know any details of Corporate Package.
Thanks for giving me such useful information. I am also using wateen internet service and wana change it due to its slow speed and high cost. I was not sure about PTCL broadband either it is better than wateen or not, But your experience shows that PTCL is far better than wateen.
Actually, if PTCL can drop the price a little bit, then that will be great. But under the current circumstances, [the only other major and fast internet provider being Wateen which is much more expensive than PTCL], I think PTCL prices are comparably low.
As time passes, we will get faster internet connections for lower prices.
The more major internet providers enters the market, the lower will be the prices.
I have been using PTCL braoadband for more than 4 months now.The service is undoubtedly very satisfying.It happens sometimes though that the browsing gets really slow.But the best thing is that this problem doesn’t have any effect on to**ents speed.
On thing that really concerns me is the price we pay.Its expensive.Shouldn’t be more that 500Rs/Month for 1Mbps connection.

Your comment reminded me about one thing which I think I forgot to mention in the main article.
When I went to Wateen’s franchise the day it opened here in Abbottabad, the authorized personals told me that:
I need to pay something about Rs. 6000 in order to get Wateen wireless device. These charges were other than the ones we need to pay for each month’s internet usage. That is: for one year package, they demanded something like Rs. 21,000; in this amount, Rs. 6000 was the amount we need to pay for installation charges plus for the Wateen wireless internet device.
I asked two or three times to confirm that:
Will I own this Wireless device after paying all the above mentioned money?
The authorized personal at Wateen franchise said YES. The Rs. 6000 includes the charges of this device and I actually am buying this device. The especially mentioned that: the company is selling this device for a very low rate.
But after few months, I found via online Wateen Support that, this device is not owned by me. The amount of Rs. 6000 only included a refundable fee of [I think] Rs. 2500 which is held as a security fee against the Wireless internet device.
This was not a very nice thing to know as the authorized people at Wateen franchise told me a totally different story. Buying wateen device is not an issue: if I stop using Wateen services [which I have], then what is the use of this device for me?
The actual thing is the wrongly/misleading given information at Wateen’s official franchise by Wateen’s official agents.
Anyway, the real point here is that, Wateen demand some money as security fee for their device plus they charge some installation fee [no one came to my house to install anything then: why these charges?].
When I got Wateen Wireless Internet Connection, they took Rs. 6000 for these things. Other than this amount, I paid about 1350 [monthly internet charges] * 12.
On other hand PTCL charge ZERO for their device and PTCL support people will come to your house and will install everything for FREE.
PTCL only charge the monthly FEE and there are no installation or device charges and there are no hidden charges at all.
I personally think that PTCL have no wireless device. The main reason is that it’s broad band and for that, we need to connect it to our phone line.
I am waiting for PTCL Smart TV to launch in Abbottabad. Unfortunately, I think it’s only yet available in Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore.

Also kindly guide what is the price for PTCL Modem Router, and do they supply with a wireless router or one has to buy it himself and add it to PTCL modem.

Can you share with us any particular problem you faced with PTCL customer service?
I have tried to make few complains at their customer service: sometimes, I have to wait for a operator for a long time, and then the call disconnects automatically.
I once tried to connect to their support for 3 times in a row, and was failed to reach the operator for like 15+ mins. All the time, I had to listen to that waiting music.
The reason I wanted to contact PTCL Broadband support was that few days back, the internet stopped to work completely. There was some problem at PTCL server and it was corrected after few hours.
I still am satisfied by PTCL BRoadBand internet service as its much better than Wateen: and yes, their customer service needs some improvement.
The only good thing about a ptcl is its broadband, but they are getting low at CUSTOMER SERVICES
